Zimbabwe-A woman married her own son yesterday. The woman and her son claim to be in love with each other and they decided take their relationship to the next level and get married considering that the mother, Betty Mbereko (from Mwenezi in Masvingo) is now six months pregnant and expecting her son’s child, and her grandchild. Mbereko, 40, has been a widow for the past 12 years and has been living with her 23-years-old son Farai Mbereko. She confirmed that she is six months pregnant and that she has decided it is better to “marry” her son because she does not want to marry her late husband’s young brothers, whom she says are coveting her. Betty stunned a village court last week when she said the affair with her son had begun three years earlier. Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita, Head of Service of the Federation has promised to give a house to the couple who recently delivered quintuplets at the National Hospital Abuja. She said that the house will be given under the Federal Integrated Staff Housing (FISH) Scheme. Oyo-Ita who made the promise while visiting the children on Saturday in Abuja also promised Mr Imudia Uduehi, father of the quintuplets who is a graduate from the University of Ilorin, Kwara state a job with the Federal Civil Service. An expectant mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Orefuwa, was the centre of attraction at the 21st convocation of the Lagos State University (LASU) yesterday. She is the best graduating student with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.74 in Accounting Education. Besides Shobowale Olumide Adekunle, the best graduating student in the Faculty of Engineering, others were women. Lawal Amidat Abiola topped the Faculty of Law; Oshikomaya Christy Kemi led the School of Transport. Oduntan Saidat Abimbola and Bello Adebola Oluwadamilola topped the School of Communications and College of Medicine. Herietta Ugwoma led the Faculty of Social Sciences; Oyerinde Faith Temilola shone at the Faculty of Science.
