Prof. Zhang Yong-Peng, a research fellow at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), in Beijing, China on Tuesday said that for more Chinese development assistance to be extended to Nigeria, both countries should become active partners. Yong-Peng told a Delegation of visiting Nigerian Journalists in Beijing, while making clarification on “The Belt and Silk Road: Creating New Development in Africa,’’ that it was imperative for Nigeria to become more active with China. “China knows Nigeria as a major power in Africa and would continue to create more opportunities to access her development assistance and funds. Trump moves to review visas for skilled workers

President Donald Trump wants to retool the fabled H-1B visas for skilled workers sought by Silicon Valley heavyweights, a White House official said Monday. There are, however, limits to the scope of his action in the absence of a broader legislative plan. Trump on Tuesday will sign a decree while in Kenosha, Wisconsin, ordering the Labor, Justice and Homeland Security departments to propose reforms so that the H-1B program goes back to its roots. Its “original intent (was) awarding visas to the most skilled and highest paid applicants — crucially, at such time as these reforms are eventually implemented, it will prevent the program from being used to displace American workers,” a White House official said. “For too long, rather than just allowing the best to come (…), the H-1B program has been applied in a bad way fo

•’You’re struggling to fear God unlike other royal fathers’ Governor Abdu-laziz Yari of Zamfara State is squaring up to a fresh face-off with the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, after accusing the traditional ruler of playing to the gallery. Sanusi, he said, should practice what he preaches for Nigerians to believe him. Yari, Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF), wondered why the Emir rides a Rolls Royce in the midst of poverty in his kingdom. The governor made his feelings known in a statement through his Special Adviser ((Public Enlightenment and Communication), Mr. Ibrahim Dosara, 24 hours after the Emir claimed that some vested interests in the North were putting pressure on him to stop talking following his recent comments on national issues.
